Emmerdale star Sammy Winward has revealed that she was bullied at school. She admitted that her older sister had to step in to stop her being tormented.
Winward joined the Yorkshire-based soap in 2001 as Katie Sugden.
Sammy added that 26-year-old Amy had always been protective towards her.
She told Cosmopolitan: "I remember on my first few days of school, someone wanted to beat me up and Amy had it fixed before I'd even heard about it."
Amy added: "She was picked on a bit at school, so I'd go and meet her at the school gate to make sure she was okay."
Despite their close relationship, they admit that they had their share of sibling arguments growing up.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale co-star James Sutton revealed that we will see more of Sammy in coming months.
Talking at the British Soap Awards he admitted that there is a massive storyline coming up for his character Ryan Lamb and his on-screen family.
He told Digital Spy: "We have massive, massive [stuff] coming up.
"The back end of this year, me Lyndon Ogbourne, Amanada Donohoe, Alice Coulthard and Sammy [Winward]... there's a massive storyline for all of us."
